U okviru projekta HEARTS – Healthcare Equity and Access for Resilient Targeted Support, koji se provodi kroz program prekogranične suradnje Interreg IPA Hrvatska – Bosna i Hercegovina – Crna Gora 2021.

The HEARTS Project Invests in Knowledge and Equipment – training for sensory room experts
As part of the HEARTS – Healthcare Equity and Access for Resilient Targeted Support project, implemented under the Interreg IPA Cross-border Cooperation Programme Croatia – Bosnia and Herzegovina – Montenegro 2021–2027, an intensive five-day training for work in a sensory room is being held in Vinkovci, at the premises of the Centre for the Provision of Community Services of Vukovar-Srijem County.
The training brings together professionals from the project’s partner institutions and focuses on the application of sensory therapy in working with children and adults experiencing sensory integration difficulties, as well as on strategies for successfully managing challenging behaviours. The theoretical part of the training is based on contemporary approaches to sensory intelligence, while the practical sessions enable participants to gain hands-on experience in using equipment and methods in real-life scenarios.
The training is further enriched by being held in the newly equipped sensory room at the Centre, whose functionality has been significantly enhanced through the procurement of specialised equipment funded by the HEARTS project. This new equipment allows for an individualised approach tailored to each user, providing a safe, stimulating and therapeutically oriented environment that significantly improves the quality of community-based services.
This training represents an important step forward in strengthening the capacities of professionals in the cross-border area, and contributes to the development of more accessible and inclusive services for vulnerable groups. The HEARTS project is focused on reducing inequalities in access to healthcare and social services, and investments in education and infrastructure—such as this sensory room—are concrete examples of the sustainable changes the project is bringing.
