HEARTS IN \u017dEP\u010cE<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n The cross-border cooperation project titled “HEARTS \u2013 Healthcare Equity and Access for Resilient Targeted Support” was presented in \u017dep\u010de. The project was prepared by the Development Agency of Vukovar-Srijem County and is financed under the INTERREG VI-A IPA Croatia-Bosnia and Herzegovina-Montenegro 2021-2027 program.<\/p>\n\n\n\n This project ensures equal access to healthcare services for all vulnerable groups in the cross-border area. The project is led by five institutions from Croatia, Bosnia and Herzegovina, and Montenegro, with a focus on improving conditions for socialization and working with children with developmental disabilities.<\/p>\n\n\n\n Development Agency of Vukovar-Srijem County employees participated in the first kick-off conference in \u017dep\u010de, organized by the Development Agency of \u017dep\u010de. The conference was also attended by representatives of other partner organizations, namely the Center for Community Service Provision of Vukovar-Srijem County, the Association of Parents of Children with Developmental Disabilities in Podgorica, and the Public Health Institution of \u017dep\u010de with a hospital.<\/p>\n\n\n\n During the conference, issues related to healthcare for children with developmental disabilities in the project area were discussed, as well as examples of good practices that, although still rare, should be welcomed and efforts made to “transfer” them to other project areas.<\/p>\n\n\n\n The project activities include the equipping of spaces and the procurement of equipment to improve the working conditions of professionals caring for children and young people with developmental disabilities. One of the key features of the project is the establishment of mobile teams of professionals who will work with children and parents in the center’s premises or local health clinics to identify issues in children with developmental difficulties.<\/p>\n\n\n\n One of the problems faced by all healthcare institutions is the passivity of parents and the failure to recognize the issues their children may have. The project aims to more actively educate the entire local community, particularly parents, to recognize problems early so that it is not too late for intervention when the child starts school.<\/p>\n\n\n\n The planned equipment will enable the provision of higher-quality services to children with developmental disabilities by equipping the Early Intervention Center. The project also plans to acquire vehicles for mobile teams, neurofeedback equipment, a digital speech therapy set, sensory room equipment, a play attention program, and IT equipment for professionals working with children. In addition to the procurement of equipment and the establishment of mobile teams, the project will create 13 new professional positions for working with children with developmental disabilities and their parents.<\/p>\n\n\n\n The project has been approved for financing under the cross-border cooperation program INTERREG VI-A IPA Croatia-Bosnia and Herzegovina-Montenegro 2021-2027.
